pre-k to 2 and consists of a suite of five core activities, each with
three differentiated levels enabling younger children
to explore predictions and decision making.
Activity
2
The tasks in this activity address the natural environment and invite exploration
of the features of living things. The task shown asks children to consider and
discuss the relationship to the changeable chameleon in relation to its environment.
The colorless chameleon can be blended into the background or made to stand
out using the palette and tools.
The activity is designed to support language and literacy, as well as personal
social and emotional development.
Activity

decisions and write about their scenes as part of a story.
Activity

This sequencing activity for early years addresses sequencing through the
practical task of making a sandwich.
Children can select their ingredients before watching an animation to create
a complete single image of the sandwich they have created. The task encourages
the process of planning, revising and editing and supports aspects of the
science curriculum.
Activity
5
All the tasks in activity five combine communication skills with language and
literacy. The task shown is aimed at 1st/2nd graders. The objective of the
task is to deliver letters to the named houses in alphabetical order through
negotiating a plan, then testing and if necessary editing a route using the direction
buttons on the screen.
Each activity has been designed with one or more opportunities to link with core
subject areas, and as such can be used to specifically teach Literacy/English,
Numeracy/Mathematics and Science.
2Simple
Modeling Toolkit has been developed for use in classrooms and incorporates
a simple options utility that will allow teachers to direct tasks and adopt
flexible and creative approaches to support teaching and learning using computers
